I have been trying out some new tools lately, from a knife maker I haven’t used before; @focusercarving Thanks to Chris from The Wood Tamer for putting me onto these tools.
I’m impressed by the knife and hook knife. Not only arriving sharp, straight out of the box, they have held their edge well. Just my usual regular stropping has kept these beauties carving away nicely.
They fit well in my smallish hands, so I am able to get a good grip and still feel comfortable.
They are a step up from the Mora knives I have been using in workshops, and am slowly going to replace my workshops knives over.

As part of my big sharpening day yesterday some of my favourite knives and axe decided to get the full day spa treatment. Would you believe that they are all flat over hollow grind? I kid you not! I recently lashed out on a Japanese Waterstone for the Tormek and it has blown my mind that I can have a mirror finish hollow (thanks to the 4000 grit wheel) and I then finished off the flats with 7000 grit abrasive paper on a glass block. I can’t wait to carve tonight.

Seeing the facets on the Focuser Carving knife handles I have been dying to do some distressed milk paints and I am glad I did. What do you think?

È stata una bella "lotta" mi è arrivata l'ispirazione in corso d'opera quando non avevo più molto margine... ma evidentemente era già lì.

Really starting to like these tools that @focusercarving sent me.
The balance and weight of this sloyd are spot on.
Also the handle feels really good in my hands (I don't have, what you would call, large hands...as you can see).
The blade holds in the wood quite well and all I've had to do is give it a quick stropping and it's right back to wicked sharp!
Having lots of fun with these tools!
